FINAL POSTER

Good Qualities

If I was a student walking around school, after seeing this I would immediately know that the poster is about the X Factor, as the logo is located right in the middle of the poster and is the main thing happening on the page. I like how the red of the cross contrasts with the white and black of the background. Most of the text is appropriately visible. I also like how the final design is not overwhelmed by information.

How to Improve

To improve I would definitely include a little bit more text. Even if I like the fact that the product isn't overwhelmed by information, I still would include more information like "for info, talk to Mrs Daykin" or "if you want to be part, step ahead". It would directly tell the community that it's an interactive event. I would also work more on creating a much more interesting background, maybe including pictures of the judges or just simply make it of an interesting theme that is still appropriate with the subject.

EVALUATION

INVESTIGATION BEFORE IMPROVING

The investigation has been the weakest of the areas I’ve covered. I would give myself a 3-4 as most of the research is missing. I did describe the problem, mentioned its relevance but missed the investigation and research from actual resources is missing. I did answer my guiding questions mainly through interviews and not books and websites.

To improve my investigation stage I need to include more information from a wider variety of sources in order to collect optimal information that will help me achieve a great final product. I need to vary the types of interviews; different questions to different people. Internet; observe other good official posters, search discussions that cover this subject and web pages that could answer my guiding questions. Books; explaining step by step to create a good poster, something that links to good advertising tips.

AFTER IMPROVING

I'm much more satisfied with my work now that I improved it. I included much more research and tried to include as much information as I could. I feel like now I have a much more complete view of my process and how I developed everything. I tried my best to follow and work on the feedback Mr. Mariani gave me and looked at the grades I am aiming for to achieve something better. Over all I'm satisfied with my final work. To improve I could gather even more information, from a bigger variety of sources. My design brief and specification could maybe include more examples and characteristics that I could reach. As well as a more detailed test plan and explanation of the the test table. But over all I think I didn't do bad.

As far as evaluating sources, they helped me write my investigation. The guiding questions that needed the most research definitely had to be the "What makes a good poster?" one. I gathered as much research as I possibly could not only by using the internet but also by asking different people; my dad, a friend and an uncle that have experience when it comes to presentation. I feel like the interviews really helped me out in order to answer my guiding questions. I also received feedback mainly from Mr. Mariani but also from students. The sources gathered from these people helped me have a better view of what the type of audience I'm doing this for is like, what they like in a poster and what they think about my poster. This gave me a chance to understand my strengths and weaknesses and to fix what I could in order to achieve the best I could. Next time, however, I need to use a larger variety of sources which include books, newspaper articles, TV programs and others.

Design  4+
I feel like my design brief and specification could of been a little bit more detailed, I could've included more of the changes I decided to take to show how my process and work developed.
Creation 5
I'm satisfied with my final posters as I like how it's simple and straight to the point. I think it's subtle but still quite eye catching. To improve my process, I should of included more information and more entries in my process journal to document all of the steps I took in order to achieve what I got.
Evaluation 5
My evaluation covers most of the steps in the creation of this project. To improve I could insert even more detail and maybe write improvements and opinions from more that one perspective. I could ask people, students, parents and teachers and include their thoughts to get a full view of my work.

PROCESS JOURNAL

 Building my process journal

My blog so far includes the design specification, investigation, guiding questions and specifications!
